First Generals to Recruit on WC4
Top 5 Bronze and Silver generals to start strong in World Conqueror 4 without wasting medals.
TL;DR
- Target a versatile Bronze general first (3 slots, ~600-900 medals).
- Avoid hyper-specialized Bronze generals until you have their matching elite unit.
- Patton or Eisenhower unlocked via campaign are free and solid.
- Only spend medals on a Gold general after you have 5+ functional generals.
Why be patient?
The first medals you earn are the most valuable: at low HQ, you don't have access to the best slots or Tier S elite units, so a 6985-medal Gold general is wasted until you have a King Tiger or IS-3 to give him.
Top 5 Bronze and Silver to start
- **Auchinleck** (Bronze, ~825 medals) β Versatile infantry/armor, unlocked early, perfect for the early-game frontline.
- **Slim** (Bronze, ~855 medals) β Excellent in jungle and infantry, very useful in Pacific scenarios.
- **Bock** (Bronze, ~1150 medals) β Tank-focused with decent mobility, a bridge into mid-game.
- **Heinrici** (Bronze, ~855 medals) β The best Bronze defender, essential for hold scenarios.
- **Crerar** (Bronze, ~375 medals) β The cheapest on the list, versatile infantry, excellent value.
When to upgrade to Silver / Gold
- **Silver (4 slots)**: starting at HQ 8-10, once you've unlocked some elite units and your Bronze roster handles the side scenarios.
- **Gold (5 slots)**: only after HQ 12+, when you have a real pool of Tier S units to combine.
Common traps
- Buying Guderian without owning a King Tiger or IS-3
- Stacking artillery generals without elite SPGs
- Selling Patton after unlocking him (he's very solid)
Frequently Asked Questions
How many generals do I need to finish the campaign?
Between 8 and 12 functional generals. You can survive with fewer, but multi-objective scenarios become very tight.
Should I buy Guderian as soon as I can afford him?
No. Guderian is exceptional but needs Tier S elite tanks (King Tiger, IS-3, M1A1) to shine. Buy him when you already have those units, not before.
